MKW Recognized as a Best Law Firm for Patent Law, Patent Litigation, and Intellectual Property Litigation
November 9, 2020

The U.S. News & World ReportBest Lawyers “Best Law Firms” rankings for 2021 were released last Thursday.  The rankings recognize MKW as a “Best Law Firm” nationally for Patent Law and regionally (New York City) for Patent Law, Patent Litigation, and Intellectual Property Litigation.

The 2021 “Best Law Firms” rankings are based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes the collection of client and lawyer evaluations, peer review from leading attorneys in their fields, and review of additional information provided by law firms as part of the formal submission process.  Specifically, to arrive at their rankings, the U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers asked clients to provide feedback on firm practice groups, addressing expertise, responsiveness, understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and whether they would refer the firm to another client.  Lawyers also voted on expertise, responsiveness, integrity, cost-effectiveness, whether they would refer a matter to a firm, and whether they consider the firm a worthy competitor.  Overall, the rankings incorporate 7.8 million evaluations of more than 110,000 individual leading lawyers from more than 15,000 firms.

A listing in Best Lawyers is widely regarded by both clients and legal professionals as a significant honor.  MKW thanks its clients and its peer lawyers at other firms who provided feedback.

MKW client Whisper.ai exits stealth, announces $35 million in new funding, and launches revolutionary AI-based hearing aid
October 20, 2020

MKW client Whisper.ai, Inc. exited stealth last week and announced a new $35 million funding round led by Quiet Capital.  As reported in TechCrunch, prior round investors Sequoia Capital and First Round Capital also participated.  To date, Whisper has raised $53 million to build its potentially game-changing hearing aid.  Whisper also launched its AI-based hearing aid product.  The Whisper hearing aid uses advanced sound separation and AI techniques to process sound in real time and optimize it for the user’s surroundings.  Whisper relies in part an auxiliary device, the “Whisper Brain,” to deliver advanced real time sound processing power and intelligence.

MKW is helping Whisper build its foundational patent portfolio in the U.S. and around the world.  So far, we have prosecuted two U.S. patents to issuance covering fundamental aspects of Whisper’s technology.  Read more about MKW’s patent prosecution practice here
